# Cannot find pictures taken with Qfield built-in camera

I usually use my tablet’s native camera to take pictures in Qfield ; however, with the new update, Qfield’s built-in camera was used.
I can see all the pictures in Qfield when i edit an entity, so I know they must exist somewhere.
However, when I connect my tablet to my computer, I can’t find them anywhere. The path saved refers to “DCIM/[picture\_name]”, but the pictures are not in the DCIM I create for each project, nor the tablet’s default DCIM folder.
Where did all my picture end up ? I know they were not deleted, I can still see them when I select an entity

- Can you check whether the DCIM folder is configured under the Attachment Section in the QField Settings?
- Have you tried to reupload the project?
- Can you see them on QFC already?

Since you mention this, I assume you’re working with the “cable transfer” method, and not QFieldCloud, is that right? If that’s the case, what is the DCIM folder path that you metioned you create for each project?

Yes, the name lends itself to confusion. The DCIM folder where QField would usually store the pictures by default should be in `Internal Storage/Android/data/ch.opengis.qfield/files/Imported Projects/` on android, for example (check [this page of the documentation](https://docs.qfield.org/how-to/project-setup/storage/#5-qfield-app-directory) for some other common locations).
You might have copied the packaged project into a random folder on your mobile device, if that’s the case, QField copies this folder into the previously mentioned one and makes changes there, not in the original location.

Hello, thanks for the swift reply.
- I’m sorry, but I can find no “Attachment Section” in the settings in Qfield.
- I didn’t try to transfer it multiple times, since when I try to access the files from my computer while the tablet is plugged in via USB, the DCIM folder is empty.
- I am sorry, but I have no idea what “QFC” is …

Hey, thanks for the reply.
I am indeed using the cable transfer method ; I don’t really like cloud storage in general.
I always put my Qgis project on my tablet in the Qfield folder :
[My tablet]/Internal storage/Android/data/ch.opengis.qfield/files/Imported Projects
then copy my qgis folder there
I have a DCIM folder in the same level as my .qgz Qgis file ; the photos I take while in the field are all stored there automatically.
This is why it is confusing to me as to why the pictures taken with the non-native, Qfield camera don’t show up in there

I think maybe they meant to say QGIS instead of QField in this sentence? The attachment section sounds more like what you configure on the field form. Can you upload a screenshot of QGIS with the settings on the form for the field that stores the attachment path?

QFC must mean QFieldCloud in this context, but that is not your use case, so nevermind.

Oh, I see! That sounds good. Probably no problems there, although the screenshot I mention above might help clarify this further.

This means that everything works ok when taking pictures with the native camera (and by that you mean you’ve set the `Advanced` \> `Use native camera` setting in QField as disabled)? Maybe then this can be some sort of incompatibility with your hardware. Do you have a way to try this project on a different device (preferably another Android one)?
