Hi everyone,

Within the app, we can download a project from QFieldCloud, edit a local project, or create a new one from scratch.

Is there a way to create a new project based on a custom template? Beyond the basic options currently offered during project creation, I’m looking for a way to load preconfigured templates—projects with pre-defined layers, forms, and relations, but no existing features/data.

Having this feature directly in the app without needing a computer would be extremely helpful. Alternatively, is there any workaround to duplicate and clear data from an existing project on the device?

Thanks,

Julien

hello @jp136769 !

check out [one of the latest posts on the blog](https://qfield.org/blog/2026/08/10/faster-project-creation-introducing-cloning-and-xlsform-imports-in-qfieldcloud/). There are 2 new methods to create projects from QField: XLSForm import and Project Cloning. I think the second one specially might be similar to what you are looking for.

@jp136769 , what was referred to by @cuprico are means to create cloud projects via [https://app.qfield.cloud/](https://app.qfield.cloud/) , which are super useful.

Starting with QField 4.3, you can create cloud projects _directly within QField_, including from templates you configured and uploaded to your QFieldCloud account. More information on this over here: [QField 4.3 “Danube”: Summer of stability | QField - Efficient field work built for QGIS](https://qfield.org/blog/2026/09/08/qfield-4.3-danube-summer-of-stability/)

Hi @cuprico @Mathieu_Pellerin ,

Thanks for these solutions, project creation from the web app is useful indeed, but last QField 4.3 upgrade is exactely what I was looking for : projection creation while in the field.

Great 🙂
