Tracking issue since latest app update

Hi,

I use QField in the field and usually perform my delineations using the tracking feature.

I create a LineString layer called “Track” in my QGIS project and then import the project into QField. In the field, I long-press the layer, select"Tracking settings", then"Start tracking". After entering the attribute information and confirming the form, QField displays the message:

“Tracking of layer Track started.”

Normally, as I move, a line is drawn behind my GPS position and, when I stop tracking, a new feature is created in the layer.

However, during my last field survey, and again today while testing on a different project, the behaviour is different. Tracking appears to start normally, but:

  • no line is displayed behind my GPS cursor while moving;
  • no feature is created when I stop tracking.

Additional information:

  • QField version: 4.3.0 Danube
  • Device: Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Internal GPS
  • GPS positioning works correctly and the position cursor follows my movement
  • I can manually create features in the layer
  • The tracking layer is stored in a GeoPackage
  • The same workflow worked correctly before the latest update
  • Distance and time requirements are disabled, exactly as they were when tracking used to work
  • The issue occurs on multiple projects

Has anyone experienced the same issue or identified a workaround?

Thanks.

@Stephanie_V , thanks for the information. This was reported on github a few days ago, and already fixed. We released QField 4.3.1 to fix this. Google is still reviewing the update, but in the meantime you can manually install it by downloading the arm64 APK here: Release 4.3.1 - Danube · opengisch/QField · GitHub

Great, thank you so much !
