Since the update to version 3.6.x of QField there are at least two problems which didn’t exist in the version I used before (suppose it was a 2.8.x):
-
While digitizing new features the digitized geometry is not displayed on the map until I actively move the map. Automatic movement of the mapping (following position) doesn’t lead to a display of recently mapped features. It needs a manual displace of the map to initiate the display of recently mapped features.
-
When digitizing a line or a polygon by using the S-Pen (Galaxy Tablet) instead of the fingertip now there are created additional (unintended!) vertices at the map positions behind the control buttons at least when finishing the geometry (by pressing the “OK” symbol). In the previous version (2.8.x ?) Qfield was able to differentiate between input which was made to create vertices and input to apply control buttons. The latter just performed the chosen action of the control button, but didn’t create an unwanted new vertex. This has changed now, and it needs a lot of discipline not to touch the control buttons by S-Pen or to correct the unintentionally deformed geometries in a second work step.

Do I remember it wrong? As far as I can remember in the old version 2.8.x bottom right there was a switch positioning on/off. It just switched the positioning on/off and the map could be moved somewhere else without automatic restart of the positioning mode (and no rotation!). Now bottom right I indeed still can open a submenu where I can choose “positioning on/off”. But what happens is: the map rotates in the direction of walking (north is no longer on top) and it keeps on, doesn’t stop rotating, doesn’t stand still. I can’t see any use in that mode. On the mobile I never need another rotation than north on top. So I press the compass needle to get back north on top, an what happens is: Qfield goes back to positioning mode! Isn’t it any more possible to have a map view WITHOUT positioning and without rotating the map? A view with a map moved to another location than the actual position with “positioning off” an without rotation?
Oh yes, in the App Settings → General → I have set “Allow map rotation” to “off”, but this seems not to have influence on the described behavior.
All these three problems are very annoying. So I hope someone can give me advice on how to counteract these by changing the settings or working differently. Or, maybe, are these in fact software issues which could be fixed in one of the next versions?
