Hi,
I created a QFieldCloud project for data collection to be used across multiple devices, iOS and Android. The project is ~40mb large and contains multiple vector layers and table layers, some of which are connected via the relation manager.
When I download the project on my Android device (Google Pixel 7Pro) it works as expected. However, when I download it on a iOS device (tested ipad6 and iphone 16) it will open the project and as soon as it finishes loading (green loading circle vanishes), it crashes to the home screen.
Does anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it?
Thank you and Cheers,
Julian
Hi Julian,
I am experiencing a similar problem but I get into the project for a little bit before it crashes.
Over the last few days I made some changes to a QField project I use for data collection. In the past I collected a variety of data in one big geodatabase but it wasn’t set up to well and I always had to export data from the big database which was a little bit of a hassle. So I decided to separate the big database into three smaller databases each dedicated to a stage of data collection. Now my QField file has a total of five geodatabases.
When testing the project on an iPad (9th generation) iOS version 26.3.1(a) it keeps loading the project and will crash suddenly. Either after taking a photo, panning the screen, or zooming in or out. There is no real indication of why it crashes. My older project with two geodatabases seems to be more stable but tends to crash as well - although more rarely.
At this point I installed a fresh version of QField (4.0.6) and I am still experiencing the crashes. I changed ‘Map canvas rendering quality’ to ‘Lower quality’ which seemed to have improved stability a little bit but it still crashes. I have not set up any relations between the databases yet, so I even removed databases from the project to see if one database or the number is causing the issues but the crashes persist.
Not sure what to do at this point but I am hoping as well that someone has an idea what could cause this and that it can be fixed (even if it turns out to be caused by me by having five geodatabases).
Cheers
Edit: I had a friend test the project on an Android device (Samsung Galaxy S7) and there were no crashes.
