I’m having problems with the new update. I’ve been working on a project for quite some time without any issues. Starting this year, attempts to resume work are encountering a bug where the base map and project layers disappear, leaving a blank background. This has been tested on multiple devices. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’m adding some information to the case: This is an error that occurs to field workers when they try to use another application (I don’t experience this error, and I don’t have that application). Could there be some kind of incompatibility with that app?
The application in question is called FIMM and is used to take readings from gas meters, also using GPS. Thank you very much!

Hola, do you have a link to that FIMM application? Have been using QField for a while on a couple of android devices and haven’t had this problem.

Is the QField/QGIS project connected in some way with this app? Maybe to synchronise some document?

Hello. Fimm is a private application used to monitor gas meter readings. It uses GPS, but its accuracy is very low, which is why I implemented Qfield.

Ooh, ok, I see. Then there should be no relation between the two apps.

I’ve tried using another GPS app alongside QField (“Handy GPS”), started before QField, and it does break the GPS function of QField; although the app still works (it just never gets the positioning from the gps sensor).

I’m thinking if maybe what’s happening on your devices isn’t that the layers disappear, but rather that maybe the canvas moves to a very far away and wrong location because of a problem with the GPS reported from the sensor while another app is using it. Maybe its moving the view to the 0,0 coordinate (near the south coast of Nigeria in WGS84 coordinate system). You can try searching for a feature in some layer, pressing the 3 dots in the top right corner of the feature form and choosing “Zoom to feature” to see if it gets you back to a known location.

Sure, I tried zooming in on the layer thinking something similar would work, but it didn’t. Another test we did was to survey the area blindly. Once I synced the project from QGIS, the points were where the field staff had taken them, so the GPS is working. We’ll look for alternatives to avoid using both applications. Thanks for the reply.
