Hello,
I am relatively new to QGIS and QField but I am helping integrate QField data collection into a consulting company I work for. I created a QGIS project for site data collection that includes point, line, and polygon layers, but I am having issues with QField Cloud Sync.
All layers are stored in a single geopackage, and I had no problems uploading the project to QField from QGIS. After collecting data in the field, the point and line layers synced back to my local project without issue, but the polygon layer does not show any of the features I collected.
On our iPad, the polygons are visible within the QField project, but they do not appear after syncing to QGIS. We are using the free version of QField Cloud, and the total project size is well below the 100 MB limit.
For collecting the polygon data, I selected the layer, enabled tracking, and walked around the area to map it. There are two polygons created this way. I have confirmed that the polygon layer is saved to the same file path as the others, and that offline editing is enabled on all layers.
Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated, especially any way to recover or sync the polygon data stored on the iPad. Thank you.
Hi @tasha_schweb
Thank you for reaching out.
What is your user name and the name of the project. Have you checked in QFieldCloud itself under “Changes” whether there are any deltas that are not applied?
Have a look at the documentation as well
QField Documentation - Troubleshoot
QField Documentation - How to reapply deltas
Hi there! Thank you so much for your reply!
The Username is HillEnvironmental and the name of the project is Kash_Khan_xxx. In the Qfield cloud changes section I can see status: not applied, and a “unable to find feature” comment over the more information button.
Hi @tasha_schweb , I checked your account and it looked like you were successful to apply the changes after all ?
Best regards,
Berit
Hi! Unfortunately the issue has not been resolved. I did manually apply changes to the layer, however the polygons are still not showing up on my local desktop project when I sync.
I would try zipping up the project on the mobile device and sharing it to the desktop system. The open the polygons and check for dodgy geometry. In my experience Qfield is more tolerant of bad geometry than QGIS, which doesn’t really make sense since they are both so similar under the hood.
Thank you for your suggestion. Would you happen to know where the files would be stored on an ipad when using QField Cloud? I tried hooking the iPad up to a desktop and I can’t seem to find them. Previously when we downloaded the project they were located in a QField folder. Thank you again, I really appreciate the help.
In your files app on the iPad open the left side bar.
There should be an icon for on my iPad.
That should take you to a folder which contains the QField folders.
Inside that should be Imported projects
Long press on the project you want to check, select compress
You then have a Zip file you can send via email, teams, dropbox etc for checking on your desktop.
You can use iTunes to sync your imported projects folder but its a faff.
