I’ve been studying and testing ways to connect Qfield and QfieldCloud to my cloud hosted database for a long time. As I had found out, only pro or forward users are allowed to access postgis layers offline. I bought the PRO license and it really worked. Now my question is whether the same logic applies to direct access instead of offline access, since the specifications only mention offline access. Every time I use a layer hosted in a database, i.e. Postgis, no matter how I access it, do I have to have the PRO license? if so, it would be a shame because the parity between the currencies involved makes it impossible to acquire a license for each client. Due to security criteria, it is not convenient for all clients to access the same Qfield login, even using data separation tools.
I use windows 10, QGis 3.34 and Qfield 3.5.1

Hello nelsonjlle,
Unfortunately online layers are not allowed in the community at this time, which includes PostGIS layers.
However, you can use a direct connection instead. This way, you won’t need to use QFieldCloud, and you can directly copy the project to your devices.

Thanks for the reply. You mean if I configure direct access and connect by cable of a postgis layer, prepare the files and copy to Qfield Android by cable, since I always have an internet connection, it will work fine with Qfield accessing directly my cloud hosted postgis. Depending on the postgres role permission users can save changes at the postgres database or not. Only if I change the project, it will be necessary to do the copy process again. Is this statement correct?

Yes, all the workflow you mentioned that is correct.

Sorry for reopening the discussion; I found out some news.
I was looking for information on self-hosted Qfield Cloud (about costs) and got this FAQ question: ‘’ You can work with live PostGIS layers with any plan. If you need offline editing, you would need the project to be owned by either a Pro or Organization account. ‘’.
So, the question is: how can I make it? Is it true?

Unfortunately, this is not allowed in the Community plan. Apologize for the inconvenience.

Ok, just checking the information provided by the own developer. Perhaps it would be convenient fix the FAQ informátion.
Thanks again for the reply.
