Unable to download project from Cloud to mobile - 403

I am unable to download projects from cloud to my mobile (have tried both android & apple). Pls see below. I could download 2 initial ones, but the ones I created after those, I cannot download.

I have briefly seen a flash of Server error - 403, but I cannot see it now. Is there a error log I can access?

Subscription: I have added myself (100MB) account as a project collaborator. Not sure if this matters. I am under organization subscription plan.

SPECS

Windows 10

QGIS 3.44

Qfield subscription - Organization 5GB

After triggering the error, if you open a project you have already downloaded before, you should see a tiny speech bubble icon on the right. image

Alternatively, also in an open project, open the hamburger menu (where you see your layers), then click the three dots at the top, and select “Message Log”.

This may provide you with more information about what’s happening.

If it only shows you a vague message, e.g., about the packaging failing, you might have to check the job’s logs in the cloud to figure out what’s going on.

I seem to be having this issue with projects containing WFS layers. I have tested a few different servers and checked they are all set as ‘Directly access the data source’. After removing the WFS they work.

Thank you!

For those interested:

WMS Layer: A static map image served from a server, ideal for background reference but not editable.

WFS Layer: Live vector features with geometry and attributes served from a server, fully editable in QField.

I think I figured out why this is happening

It downloads ok if I

- sync via User account

- sync to User account, and then transfer project to Organization account

Does not work

- If I sync directly to organization account.

Hi @milliamp Thank you for your post and your thinking process…
I think you may experience the joy of user permissions.

Depending on your user type in the organisation you have certain rights - what actions you can do.

Please refer to> Permissions - QField Ecosystem Documentation to understand it more!

I think this already solves your issue

Is there a way to see a message log on a project that fails to download - that hasn’t been downloaded before?

Yes, from my experience, the message log is preserved between opening different projects if you don’t explicitly clear it. So opening a different project (one that already exists locally) should allow you to see the failed project’s logs.
